The Guide Moving Files Image, Document & Video with SharePoint on PC. This is the fifth part in the series of "SharePoint for Dummies" training tutorials that I have been doing for clients. In this article we look at some of the more advanced features that are available with the software that can greatly enhance your ability to use your SharePoint (MS Office) Online account as much as possible. Specifically we look at the very powerful Features "One-click System Restore", "Search for Document" and "Manage Shared Hosts". As always, any of these features could be considered advanced but by and large what you get from these are the fundamental tools that any SharePoint user would need to be able to make their way around and access all the files and information that they have in SharePoint.

 

The first and most important feature that is offered with this software is the "Shared Folder" feature. This allows for documents to be stored in one place, either locally or on a web server such as the cloud. All you need to do is go to the Shared Folder tab and then click "Add folder". You then need to give your document an individual name such as Document. This will be saved on the server as a "documents folder". Once you have saved this document, you then have the ability to go to the router login page and log into your SharePoint account from this very same page where you would normally do your admin functions.

 

If you did not know, when you set up your SharePoint (MS Office) online you were provided with a default username and password. These have always worked quite well, but now Microsoft has provided the ability to change these by using your own spectrum router ip address. Fortunately, there is another way to get around this. You can create a new username and password in your WEP setup, allowing you to login to your router using any of the other available SSIDs.

 

To change the username and password you need to run a windows command, like "ipconfig". The "uci" command allows you to modify many aspects of your wireless network settings, including IP addresses, leases, passwords, and more. Here's how you change your spectrum router login IP address:

 

Changing your login information to something else, such as "my Spectrum Router", should be simple. Just change the IP address for your modem by clicking on "inetadpt" and then selecting "OK". This will prevent your wireless router from trying to connect to anything on the Internet while you are logged in. If you were wondering how to log in using a different name or email address - you just type "uci" followed by a colon (eg: My Spectrum Router).

 

Finally, if you want to reset the modem back to factory settings, you can do so by unplugging it from the power source. Then plug it in again, and follow the steps above. Then, restart your computer.
